In partnership with Antarr, Universo has launched an initiative aimed at carbon offsetting, highlighting the role of forests in mitigating the effects of climate change.
Customers who renew their Universo Card between May 2023 and September 2024 will be contributing to the planting of a tree whenever they make 5 or more payments per month with their new Card, up to a maximum of 50,000 trees.
Through this campaign, Antarr and Universo hope to ensure that the community adheres to sustainable practices by involving them in planting trees throughout Portugal, especially in areas previously affected by fires. Under this initiative, Antarr will build a productive forest by planting native species, reinforcing biodiversity and ecosystem services.
The results of this initiative have been promising, and with the commitment of Universo customers, more than 32,000 trees have been planted in the first five months of the program alone.
