Antarr starts operations at Riodouro
Antarr began in February the intervention project in the concession area for land use, in the Local Community of the Baldios of the Parish of Riodouro, in the municipality of Cabeceiras de Basto.
The area covers approximately 500 hectares, partially affected by the wildfires of 2016 and 2024, it is currently almost entirely deforested and covered by scrubland. Integrated in the Serra da Cabreira, it presents a wide range of features with significant altitude variations, plateaus and steep slopes. The intervention, agreed with the Local Community, aims to recover the area’s productive potential, promote the conservation of sensitive zones such as riparian galleries, reduce wildfire risk, and restore and enhance the region’s Natural Capital.
With the objective of creating a multifunctional landscape, approximately 40 hectares of riparian galleries will be restored, essential for biodiversity conservation and water resources protection. In this first phase, roughly 220 hectares will be planted with productive species and approximately 80 hectares with a mix of broadleaf and coniferous trees, improving the conservation functions of the landscape.
